10 days of Change,Wow this will be a long 4 years. Feels like my head is already going to explode.January 20th was a historic day, President-elect Barack H. Obama's Inauguration was and is one of those days we as Americans will always remember. The shear mass of humanity that filled the National Mall was impressive. Comparing it to the Islamic Hodge was in my opinion insulting to Islam, yet nowhere was that comment ridiculed. Even though I didn't vote for the man that was to take the oath of our highest office,I thought the whole day was a shining testiment to our form of Government. One of those days that you are proud to be a American. While I almost compleatly disagree with all of his positions on domestic and foriegn policies,I wish him the best. I can only imagine though after hearing the Candidate Obama's rants on everything, the first Presidental Briefing he got if he didn't say to himself while walking out of the room"What the hell have I got myself into"he would be lying to himself. We live in a complicated world in 2009,and we have complicated problems. Not just the USA but the whole world, the World Economy is in a precarious place. Blaming the out going Bush Administration has become the game of the week. Bush Dirangement Syndrome has been and will be the Lefts major ailment for some time.
Enter the race to "Save the Economy". We haphazardly threw a huge sum of money at Banks,Wall Street and the Auto Industry and didn't even ask for reciepts. Now the battle lines are drawn on spending a Mountain of cash, with the goal to "Stimulate" the economy. $275 billion in "tax cuts" ( you define that statement) and $544 billion in spending. With majority of the spending to happen over 2-4 years depending on who you listen to. 650-700 pages is what HR1424 is,I tried to read it,my eyes glazed over around page 125,and my brain went to sleep at page 275,no wonder nothing good happens in Washington DC. not a coincidence that the opposite of Progress is Congress. The Left and the Right seem to be more interested in playing the Blame Game as usual. The rest of us sit here and wonder how we are gonna adapt to whats about to be done to us,just like every time there is a election. And this one has been no different.
Will we survive?? Of course. We have had our backs against the wall before, sometimes as bad or worse. But in our haste to get that quick fix,we need to make rational decisions. If we sit back and let our Elected Officials create a huge "Fix All" decision the parts that will help will be erased by the parts that don't.You don't tear down the whole house to fix the leaky roof, because if you do then you never know why the roof leaked. Rational reasonable legislation is what we need, not a do all fix all at once mess.
Through all of this lets not forget we have thousands of brave men and women in battle fields. Lets be thankful for what we have, not what we think we need.
